SHASTA COUNTY SUPERIOR COURT: SUPERIOR COURT RELOCATION TO NEW COURTHOUSE

Court Notice

SHASTA COUNTY SUPERIOR COURT: SUPERIOR COURT RELOCATION TO NEW COURTHOUSE

The Superior Court of California, County of Shasta will begin moving into the new courthouse beginning January 25, 2024. The new courthouse is located at 1515 Court Street, directly across the street from the current courthouse.

Commencing January 25, 2024, supplies for the new building and older court files will be relocated. No courtrooms or court staff will move during this four-day phase.

Commencing February 7, 2024, and continuing throughout the weekend, all operations associated with most civil cases will begin moving. The move will continue throughout the weekend. While the move is taking place, the Civil Clerk’s Office located in Room 319 will be unavailable. Limited civil staff will be located in the Criminal Clerk’s Office in Room 219 until 12 noon on Friday February 9, 2024, at which time the office will be closed and the drop box may be used.

Access to court files/records during the move will be very difficult. The court asks that all persons limit their business with the Civil Clerk’s Office, if possible, until that division reopens in the new building on February 13, 2024, at 8:30 a.m. Also included in this phase are juvenile cases (delinquency and dependency), Small Claims, Probate, Family Law, Guardianship, Appeals, the Self-Help Center, Human Resources, Family Court Services, portions of the Finance Division, Information Technology Division and Marshal’s Office. All courtrooms associated with these cases will also be relocated to the new building and will be open for business on February 13, 2024, at 8:30 a.m.

Commencing February 14, 2024, and continuing throughout the weekend, all operations associated with criminal cases, mental health, traffic, and court collections will begin moving. Limited staffing will be temporarily located in Room 319 until 12 noon on Friday, February 16, 2024, at which time the office will be closed and the drop box may be used. Access to court Ales/records will be very difficult. The court asks that all persons limit their business with the Criminal Clerk’s Office including Traffic, and the Collections Division, if possible, until those divisions reopen in the new building on February 20, 2024. Included in this last phase of the move are felony and misdemeanor cases, mental health cases, traffic cases, remaining portions of Information Technology, Finance, the Marshal’s Office, and Jury Services. All courtrooms associated with these cases will also be relocated to the new building and will be open for business on February 20, 2024, at 8:30 a.m. This final phase completes the court’s move.

The court asks for your understanding during and after the move. Once staff begin to relocate to the new building on February 7, 2024, all access, either in person, telephonic or electronic will be severely impacted. We will do our best to limit disruption, but it will take time to move and for everyone to adjust to new surroundings and systems in the new courthouse.

A public dedication of the new Redding courthouse will occur in the Spring on a date to be determined. Everyone is invited to participate in this historic Shasta County event.
