LASC: SUPERIOR COURT OF LOS ANGELES COUNTY SEEKS ATTORNEYS INTERESTED IN BECOMING TEMPORARY JUDGES

The Superior Court of Los Angeles County seeks experienced attorneys to serve as temporary judges as part of the Court’s Temporary Judge Program. This program is a unique opportunity for qualified attorneys to serve in one of the nation’s largest and most diverse court systems, contribute to the administration of justice, gain valuable experience on the bench, and give back to the Los Angeles County community.

Qualifications:

Interested applicants must be attorneys in good standing with the State Bar of California with no pending disciplinary action, no felony convictions, and admitted to practice as a member of the State Bar of California for at least 10 years in addition to other requirements outlined in California Rules of Court Rule 2.812.

How to Apply:

• Fill out and submit the Application to Serve as Temporary Judge to the Temporary Judge Program via email at TempJudgeProgram@lacourt.org.
• Complete three hours of Bench Conduct and Demeanor Training when offered by the Superior Court of Los Angeles County.
• Complete three hours of online Judicial Ethics training.
• Complete three hours of at least one of the following areas of substantive law: Small Claims, Traffic, Unlawful Detainers, or Family Law.

Please be advised that the decision to appoint any attorney as a temporary judge is within the discretion of the Presiding Judge. An assignment to serve as a temporary judge does not constitute an employment relationship with the Court.
